Russian athletes may be reimbursed for their legal costs and expenses as support

So far, the support to be given to Russian athletes has not been determined yet, but it may be supposed which form it may take, stated to a correspondent Vladimir Shalayev, lawyer, BMS Law Firm.
According to him, legal assistance to athletes banned from the 2018 Olympic Games may be provided in the form of covering legal costs and expenses of those of them who will pursue to defend their rights judicially. However, how exactly the financial assistance will be rendered is hard to say at this stage.

“In 1984 following the boycott the Druzhba championship was arranged where athletes who did not compete in the Olympics participated, and they were paid bonuses equal to Olympic ones. Now the situation is different, and there is no talking about either a boycott or staging other competitions”, the lawyer explained.
