Businesses started to more often complain about actions committed by law enforcement agencies. Why it matters

Denis Frolov, Partner, BMS Law Firm, informed Inc. through a representative that in such cases the most appropriate course of action would be to generate as much media attention as possible. “This allows mitigating negative consequences of a head-to-head battle with law enforcement authorities”, noted Frolov. Sometimes, business people delay calling for help until it is too late. Thus, the Moscow business ombudsman may receive complaints from pre-trial investigation detention centers, said Mikhail Nizhegorodtsev is his conversation with Inc.

However, businesses should not also forget to complain about activities of police officers  (you may even file for instigation of a criminal case, if the actions of employees of law enforcement bodies contained elements of a crime). “The more you complain and the more media attention you obtain, the more chances that it will produce a tangible effect. This gives businesses more protection”, Frolov added.
